These are a pair of Chinese 'lotus' shoes, hand sewn from silk and embroidered with apricot and blue silk metallic thread decoration. They were created by a Chinese maker during the nineteenth century.

The shoes were donated to Brighton Museum in 1933 by Miss A. Fillis and are on display in the Body Gallery, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.
