Introduction | Gallery Label These are two Chinese 'lotus' shoes (not a pair), hand sewn from red silk and embroidered with floral designs. The shoes are mounted on wooden lasts representing bound feet, one of which is bandaged. Both lasts have lower ends of trouser legs on them. The shoes were created by a Chinese maker during the early part of the twentieth century. This pair were donated to Brighton Museum in 1934 by Mrs. J.V. Barnette and are on display in the Body Gallery, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.
