Introduction This is a donation box for monetary offerings carved from elm wood and decorated with a series of floral, animal and bird motifs inspired by the temples of southern India. It was commissioned by Brighton Museum in partnership with members of Brighton and Hove's Hindu community and is positioned in the James Green Gallery of World Art, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery next to a Hindu shrine; another product of this partnership. The box was created by Balavendra Elias, a Brighton-based artist.
