Introduction

This bone china tea service is painted in underglaze blue and enamel colours with gilt detail. It consists of eight tea cups and saucers, a basin, a dish, a teapot, and a sucrier. The decoration depicts conventional flowers in blue, red, green and gold. The design is based on Japanese Imari patterns, and is consistent with the pattern number ‘1153’.
