Introduction

This earthenware teapot is globular in shape with a metal lid elongated into the body of the pot to make a ‘self-pouring’ mechanism. The pot is moulded in two parts, the upper pierced by a central hole linking through to the spout and operated by pumping the lid. The loop handle and tap spout are printed in blue with flower sprays and leaf pattern. The teapot has a makers mark with a pattern number 6327, 1886 and reads: Manufactured by Doulton’s Burslem for J.J.Royle Manchester. It is virtually identical to DA310074.
