Introduction

This bone china tea service is painted in enamel colours with gilding. The service consists of:

seven tea cups,11 saucers, a sugar basin, a slop bowl, a teapot, 30 plates, nine coffee cups and three dishes.

The Imari-style decoration consists of broad bands divided into even panels with formal decoration in red, blue, green and gilt and a landscape with conventional Oriental flowers and fencing. The pattern is consistent with Spode pattern number 1741.
