Births, Deaths and Marriages
|
The General Register Office's index to births, deaths and marriages is our
most popular research tool for family historians. These records cover every individual
in England and Wales from 1837 onwards. The most recent year available is 2002.

If your family lived outside of England and Wales, you may be able to trace them
through the use of the Overseas Military and Consular Records at the History Centre.
Our parish register collections cover Brighton and Hove parishes, but we also
have records for London and other parts of the UK. Comprehensive lists of our
parish registers can be found on our Handlists
page
Much of this material is available on microfilm and microfiche, so it is advisable
to book the appropriate reader in advance. Please contact us
to book.
