Brighton History Centre holds a small collection of photographs and illustrations
to view in the search room. It also acts as a first port of call for enquiries
relating to Brighton & Hove museums' holdings of approximately 250,000 photographs
and postcards. The collection is particularly strong in views of twentieth century
Brighton, but it is also an excellent resource for wider social history research.
Print copies or reproduction rights for many of these images are available.

of local history photographs can be viewed at the Royal Pavilion and Museums' Collections
pages. Brighton and Hove in Pictures
offers another database of images.
Hove
Reference Library also holds a separate collection of photographs of Hove
and Portslade, although few of these have been digitised.
You may also wish to explore the James
Gray Collection of Brighton photographs. Owned by the Regency Society, this
website offers a large and searchable collection of images.
